It's here.... The Griz-N-Gray Distress call.
The Griz-N-Gray Distress is the first hand operated predator call of it's kind featuring a gray fox pup distress call and raccoon distress call wrapped up in one product that is easy to use.
The gray fox distress is made by slowly pumping the rubber bellows and controlling the air flow at the opening of the call with your thumb or hand. The raccon distress is made by simply holding the dymondwood call body and shaking the rubber bellows.
What typically are two difficult to impossible calls to master that usually require an expensive electronic caller now can be found in one product, the Kettle Creek Calls Griz-N-Gray Distress.

The Original Gray Fox Distress Call
8/18/2010 - Kirk McKendree, KCC Senior Prostaff Member
Curtis Houser, owner of Kettle Creek Calls contacted me about five months ago with a new call that he had come up with and requested for me to put it to the test. Although this call didn't have a name yet or a logo on it, I excitedly agreed to give this call which was later named the Griz -N- Gray a workout.
My idea with the Griz -N- Gray was to lead off every set with it and if I failed to call anything into the set then I would switch to an electronic call utilizing a grey fox in distress sound in an attempt to attract a predator to my calling. I looked at this as a possible way to establish a control of determining any of the calls shortcomings. To my surprise when I had a dry set with the Griz -N- Gray the ecaller also produced the same results.
I just got in from making my last stand of the this week where I called in three more grey fox using the Griz -N- Gray, possibly four but, I believe I saw the same one twice on one of the sets. I am stopping this test here on my eighteenth fox since Curtis first handed me this call rendering the conclusion that no more educating of predators needs to be done. I have no doubt that when the season opens up this call will perform. Simply put the Griz -N- Gray works and I had a ton of fun experimenting with it over the past several months.
This call is easy to use and duplicates raccoon and grey fox vocalizations. I didn't get a chance to test it out in extreme cold conditions however, since its not a mouth blown call where moisture can be a factor I suspect it will handle the cold temperatures just fine.
Those of you looking for another option or tool for your predator calling arsenal I think you will not be disappointed in the Kettle Creek Calls Griz -N- Gray hand call. Good luck to you all this season.

8/22/2010 - Scott Francom, Minaska Ourdoors Field Staff, President of Arizona Predator Callers
My name is Scott Francom and as I am a member of the Minaska Outdoors field staff, I do not get much of a chance to use my hand calls much anymore. After seeing the new Griz-N-Gray fox distress call and promptly receiving it in the mail I decided I would leave my electronic call home for this once and put this call to the test.
Saturday, 8/21/10, at day break I walked up a desert canyon and set up in a sandy run off wash and began calling with the
Griz-N-Gray. Within 8 minutes I had called in four different grays, all of which converged in the wash within a few minutes of each other. When the dust and sandsettled, I was able to harvest two of the four with my rifle. I collected my gear and drove to the next wash a mile down the road. The next stand was much the same, calling in two foxes and taking them both. Thispattern continued over and over. By the end of four early morning stands, the Griz-N-Gray had called in a total of nine gray foxes that presented themselves in front of me. Of those nine, I was able to harvest six of them.
For the predator hunter looking for a change of pace from their electronic caller this hand call was easy to work. I was able to simultaneously have a good cheek weld on my stock, putting the scopes crosshairs on my target, while still working the call on my leg drawing them closer in. The call did not require excessive movement to create sound and was loud enough to carry out into the terrain I was calling in.
Many calls are put out each year by companies, but few are unique in design and purpose. The Griz-N-Gray Gray Fox distress call will revolutionize the way predator callers call in foxes. It will defiantly by found in my shirt pocket each time I go gray fox calling.
I attached the 3 shots of the foxes I harvested that trip.
